Beckfield, Bolton Lane, Bradford, still requires improvement says Care Quality Commission

A CARE home run by Bradford Council has been told it needs to improve following an inspection.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) visited Beckfield, Bolton Lane, in November last year, giving it the overall rating of ‘requires improvement’.

Beckfield is registered to provide accommodation and personal care to a maximum of 35 older people. People living there also have access to a day centre, which is attached to the home.

While the health watchdog said Beckfield was good in markers relating to how caring and effective it is, it was told to improve in areas relating to safety, responsiveness and leadership.

A report from inspectors said: “At our last inspection in September 2016, we rated the service as ‘requires improvement’ and identified breaches of regulation related to safe care and treatment, need to consent and care planning documentation.

“Following the last inspection, we found the provider had made some improvement. However more improvements are required to ensure the service is fully safe and responsive.”

While inspectors said systems were in place to employ suitable staff and keep people safe – including safeguarding them from abuse – they said staff did not always respond to people’s need for medicines in a “timely manner”.
